[2014 Religion News Hot 4] May Hope be spreaded in New Year
There was more serious conflict and terrorism due to religion in 2014 than any year.
The long-held conflict between Israel and Palestinian reignited
and the whole world was shocked at the terrorism of Islamic countries (IS)
and Boko Haram(Nigeria).
In Korea, divided Christian Council of Korea(CCK) showed gave an indication of self-destruction.
And in the Buddhist community, it affected society that Son Master Songdam declared getting out Jogye order.
However, As dawn is close if the night is deeper,
although there were many problems caused by religion,
religious world news which gave hope was also much.
올해는 어느 해보다 종교로 인한 분쟁과 테러가 극심한 한 해였다.
이스라엘과 팔레스타인의 묵은 분쟁이 재 점화되고
이슬람국가(IS)와 나이지리아 보코하람의 테러에 온 세계가 경악했다.
국내서는 갈라진 한국기독교총연합회가 아예 자멸 조짐을 보였고
불교계는 대표 선승인 송담스님이 조계종 탈종을 선언해 파장을 일으켰다.
그러나 밤이 깊으면 새벽이 가깝듯 종교로 인한 문제가 많은 반면 희망을 주는 종교계 소식도 많았다.

pledged
that
'they will be One for peace', was held.

교황이 25년 만에 방한해 8월의 크리스마스를 선물했고,
9월에는 전 세계 170개국 정치·종교·여성·청년지도자가 하나 돼
‘평화를 위해 하나 될 것’을 다짐하는 전무후무한 종교대통합 만국회의가 진행됐다.

1. "World Alliance of Religions for Peace Summit"
"The special reason of Peace agreement is that this agreement have led the different religions to uniting into one.
Also, it is the greatest event that took a big step forward because religion ‧ political leaders agreed to the fact that peace is essential."

Last September 17 to 19, for attending
"World Alliance of Religions for Peace Summit (WARP Summit)" which The Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL, chairman Man Hee Lee) hosted, about 4,000 worldwide political and religious leaders and 200,000 members participated.
WARP Summit was held to the effect of the slogan
"Cease the war and achieve the peace for leaving the world of peace to future generations as a heritage".
For this reason,
chairman Man Hee Lee asked former presidents and judges from all over the world to enact international law for ceasing war and religious leaders to unite one for peace.
In addition, he requested for women to participate
in the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) and protect your child with mother's mind,
for the youth to participate in the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG),
and for media to broadcast the movement of peace.
1. 인류 미래에 희망 준 ‘종교대통합 만국회의’
"평화협약식이 더욱 특별한 이유는 서로 다른 종교가 하나 되도록 이끌었기 때문이다.
또 종교‧정치지도자들이 평화가 필수적이라는 데에 동의했다는 점에서 큰 한 걸음을 내디딘 사건이다."

지난 9월 17~19일까지 하늘문화세계평화광복(HWPL, 대표 이만희) 주최로 진행된
‘종교대통합 만국회의’에는 전 세계 정치·종교지도자 4000여명과 회원 20만 명이 참석했다.
만국회의는 ‘전쟁종식과 세계평화를 이루어 평화의 세계를 후대에 유산으로 물려주자’는 취지로 개최됐다.
이를 위해, 이만희 대표는 각국 전직 대통령과 대법관에게는 전쟁종식을 위한
국제법을 제정해 줄 것을 요청했고, 종교지도자에게는 평화를 위해 하나 돼 줄 것을 당부했다.
이와 더불어 여성은 세계여성평화그룹에 참여해 어머니의 마음으로 자녀를 지키고,
청년은 국제청년평화그룹에 참여해 청년 스스로를 지키는 데 동참할 것을,
언론은 평화의 일을 적극보도해 줄 것을 요청했다.

Political ‧ religion ‧ woman ‧ youth leaders which attended WARP Summit sent compliments to the revolutionary idea of Chairman Man Hee Lee and recognized that it's
the historical event to achieve peace mankind looked forward to without dissenting voices .
Since then, last November, in Romania 25 former presidents participated as advisory committee of HWPL.
In India, 160 judges from all over the world participated too.
Like this, international attentions to HWPL is growing more and more.
지난 만국회의에 참석한 각국 정치‧종교‧여성‧청년지도자들은 이 대표의 획기적인 아이디어에 찬사를 보내고
만국회의가 인류가 고대한 평화를 이룰 역사적인 사건이라고 입을 모았다.
이후 지난 11월 루마니아에서는 전직 대통령 25명이, 인도에서는 세계 대법관 160명이 한꺼번에
HWPL의 자문위원으로 참여하는 등 HWPL에 대한 국제사회의 관심은 더욱 커지고 있다.

2. South Korea was made "shaking" by Pope Francisco's visit

2. 프란치스코 교황 방한에 한국이 ‘들썩’
25년 만의 교황 방한은 천주교계뿐 아니라 한국 사회 전체의 이슈가 됐다.
지난 8월 14~18일 프란치스코 교황 방한 내내 교황이 전하는 메시지와 파격적 행보는 연일 화제가 됐다.
종교지도자의 방문이었음에도 종교인·비종교인을 떠나 나라 전체가
그에게 열광하고 뜨거운 환호를 보내는 모습은 실로 오랜만에 보는 광경이었다.
프란치스코 교황은 취임 이후 늘 화제가 됐던 소탈하고 친근하며 탈권위적인 모습 그대로였다.
진정한 지도자의 모습이 아쉬운 이 시대에 이상적인 지도자의 리더십을 보여주는 교황에게

3. Songdam sunim's leaving from Jogye Order made an "impact"
The Korean Buddhist Jogye Order which represents the Korean Buddhist community had experienced a number of incidents than any year.
In particular, since Songdam sunim was respected as a Buddhist priest of high virtue and the best teacher,
his remark about leaving Jogye Order made huge impact on not only Jogye order but the entire Buddhist world.
Seonhakwon, which was a spiritual support of monks during the 90 years of history,
pointed out the problem of corporate law that the current executive had strongly promoted.
By announcing that they would not keep silence about corruption any longer,
Seonhakwon virtually declared leaving and operated autonomously
Besides, each time to elect the chief monk at a temple, doubt on distributing money and valuables was bombarded.

4. 조계종 송담스님 탈종 ‘파장’
한국 불교계 대표종단인 대한불교조계종은 그 어느 해보다 많은 사건을 겪었다.
특히 한국불교의 선지식인이자 최고 선승으로 존경받는 송담스님이
조계종 탈종을 선언해 종단뿐 아니라 불교계 전체에도 충격을 안겼다.
90여년의 역사 속에서 수행승(선승)들의 정신적 버팀목이었던 선학원은 현 집행부가
강력히 추진한 법인관리법의 문제를 지적, 종단 부패상을 더는 침묵하지 않겠다며
사실상 탈종을 선언하고 자체 운영에 나섰다.
이밖에도 교구본사 주지 선거 때마다 금품 살포 의혹과 비리가 쏟아졌고,
스님들의 성추행·음주 논란 등도 끊이지 않았다.
최근 동국대 총장 선출 과정에서도 종단이 사실상 개입한 것으로 드러나면서
종단과 학교 측이 갈등을 겪는 등 논란이 이어지고 있다.

4. Deferred religion taxation because of reading Protestant's countenance
Last year, the Income Tax Law amendment which Ministry of Strategy and Finance submitted to the National Assembly including religion taxation finally didn't go through.
Since this revised bill has been postponed for a year, it has virtually foundered.
In the background of postponing taxation,
it was mainly analyzed that some Protestant organizations like The Council of Presbyterian Churches in Korea (CPCK) and The Christian Council of Korea (CCK) resisted this bill.
Last February, Protestant who were opposed to religion taxation threatened the political world to do anti-campaign. Politicians were busy walking on eggshells.
Some Protestants had voluntary tax movement, but violent backlash was continued.
Eventually, Ministry of Strategy and Finance reflecting religious world's intention the Income Tax law amendment, which had been changed from last year, hung by the wall.
For this reason, debate of fairness with other religious organizations which have already paid taxes has been going on.
5. 개신교인 눈치보다 또 유예된 종교인 과세
지난해 기획재정부가 국회에 제출한 종교인 과세를 포함 소득세법 개정안은
결국 국회를 통과하지 못하고 1년 유예돼 사실상 ‘무산’ 됐다.
종교인 과세법안이 유예된 배경에는 한국장로교총연합회, 한국기독교총연합회 등
일부 개신교계의 반발이 주원인이라는 분석이다.
지난 2월, 종교인 과세를 반대하는 개신교인들은 낙선운동을 하겠다며 정계를 위협했고,
정치인들은 눈치 보기에 바빴다.
일부 개신교인이 자발적인 납세운동을 벌이기도 했지만 거센 반발도 지속됐다.
결국, 종교계 의사를 반영해 기재부가 지난해부터 수정해온 세법 수정안은 무용지물이 됐다.
이로 인해 이미 납세하고 있는 다른 종단과의 형평성 논란도 계속되고 있다.
