'Legislate Peace Campaign'

3rd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace and the Peace Walk

The Commemoration was hosted by HWPL and organized by the IWPG (International Women's Peace Group. Chairwoman Nam Hee Kim) and the IPYG (International Peace Youth Group) and celebrated simultaneously by citizens across the globe in 101 cities of 52 countries.

End War! Begin Peace! Peace Walk in Seoul

Just last year, over 200,000 people showed their commitment for peace by participating in HWPL peace walks in 50 cities held in 30 countries simultaneously, igniting the flame of peace in the hearts of many.

This year’s commemoration highlighted the global peace advocacy movement, Legislate Peace Campaign, recently launched to bring all wars to an end by establishing an enforceable law compatible with the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).

What is the Legislate Peace Campaign?

The Legislate Peace Campaign is a global peace advocacy movement which aims to bring all wars to an end and spread a culture of peace by establishing an enforceable law compatible with the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).

The strength of the DPCW lies in its representation of the voice of all those yearning for peace, calling on States to protect their rights to enjoy peaceful lives. The DPCW not only respects and builds on existing international legal documents but also promotes united efforts of States to reduce war potential, repurpose weapons to benefit humanity, and foster religious freedom.

This Declaration is unique in that it includes provisions aimed at resolving conflicts, especially those attributed to religious causes, through peaceful means and inviting youth, women, and all citizens to participate in the active promotion of a lasting culture of peace.

According to HWPL, as of May 25th, the collected signatures have exceeded 500,000 from 154 countries in less than two months, and many heads of state have written official letters of support for the DPCW. The number of signatures is expected to reach 2,000,000 by the end of this year.

We all must become messengers of peace!

“Today, marking the 3rd anniversary, at this very moment, our family of peace must have their attention focused on this place…What we should leave to the future generations is the common good of mankind - peace. There is no greater legacy than peace and it is not achieved by just one person. Therefore, we all must become messengers of peace.” said HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee in his commemorative address.

International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) Director Du Hyen Kimsaid, “This particular year, 105 peace walks will be held in 52 nations…To all the youth in attendance today in order to complete this goal there are certain qualities we all should posses. The first is a Firm Belief in what we do. The second is a Leader whom we can trust and follow. The third is our friends who we walk this path on together. Do you have these qualities?”

In her speech the IWPG Chairwoman Nam Hee Kim said, "the existing international laws failed to stop wars and merely worked as passive measures to minimize the damage caused by wars," pointing to the limitations of the current legal measures.

Speaking of the Declaration of World Peace she remarked, "It is an unprecedented legal measure of peace that prevents wars," and that, when the cessation of war is achieved the greatest beneficiaries will be all of mankind.

Throughout the event, Ecuador Earthquake Relief Donation booths were set up to respond to the needs of the Ecuadorian people.

All donations made during this event was donated to Ecuador through the Embassy of Ecuador to Korea.

Proclamation Ceremony of the Declaration on
the Cessation of War and Achievement of World Peace

Drafted by the HWPL International Law Peace Committee and proclaimed on March 14th this year the DPCW has steadily received the public’s attention. It represents the voices of all those yearning for peace and urges States to protect their citizen’s rights to enjoy peaceful lives.

Since the proclamation of the Declaration of World Peace on 25 May 2013, HWPL has proposed its international law initiative to draft a legally binding instrument for all States to adopt that ultimately promotes a culture of peace and ceases all wars through the DPCW.

It has pioneered various peace activities including the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Office, as well as held peace education seminars, peace walks, and peace forums with the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) and the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG).

We call on global citizens to unite as one to voice our positive demand for peace by adding their signature to the Legislate Peace Campaign. We appeal to citizens to encourage their local governments, including city mayors, state governors, as well as heads of state to write letters of support for the DPCW with a spirit of a deep-seated love for the people of their country.

Finally, we call on world leaders and governments to make and enforce a law based on the principles of the DPCW. When such law is fully followed by all countries and peoples, our world will soon have peace and cessation of war. Let us Legislate Peace. Sign Your Support.

The letter to my son, I wish that you live peacefully

The letter to my son,
I wish that you live peacefully on this country

The letter to my son
My Son...

The other day, I saw the movie called 'Northern Limit Line(2015)'

This film is about the dramatized story based on the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong that happened in June 2002, on the day of the Korea-Japan World Cup, the third-place match.

When the war broke out, They were the sons just like you to keep us safe.

When the war broke out, I think it seems an adult like me to killing the young people.

When we just enjoy and laugh, Our sons died a horribly.

As I saw the dying young lives, I was so upset and suffered from heartache.

How painful it was to the feelings of mother that sheds tears of blood by her beloved son's death...

The letter to my son
My Son...

I hope that Korea becomes the country that doesn't kill each other by unification North and South Korea through the peaceful process.

I wish that you live peacefully on this country, you are the unification generation.

I believe that a day will come when my family and child will no longer suffer form war.
