In celebration of the peace agreement on Mindanao Island, Philippines, which was the most bloody conflict region in Asia, a peace park was established and a monument was unveiled at an event held in the Philippines.

The event celebrating the 2nd Annual Commemoration of Declaration of World Peace was held in the Bluean Gym in Magindanao, Mindanao, Philippines. Attending this event were Islamic and Catholic religious leaders, politicians, and military officers, including a rebel leader, who participated and pledged to keep and build on the peace they have
achieved.
The Korean peace activist who participated in this event had originally assisted in achieving peace between the government and rebel forces to stop the bloody forty year dispute, which made the event even more meaningful.

Local police and soldiers as well as young people and about 3,000 students participated in the event on the island of Mindanao, Philippines, which included the unveiling of the Peace Agreement Monument and the establishment of the Peace Park. A peace walk was also held to commemorate the peace agreement signed on Mindanao this past May 25th.

Twenty thousand young people in Seoul and other major cities of seventeen different countries all participated in the commemoration of the 2nd Annual Commemoration of Declaration of World Peace and the International Youth Group Peace Walk. And the unveiling ceremony for the monument and the peace walk was held in Mindanao.
Chairman Man Hee Lee and his peace group participated in the 2nd Annual Commemoration of Declaration of World Peace event that was held in Mindanao. Chairman Man Hee Lee achieved his work as a practical leader to accomplish peace on Mindanao.
Chairman Lee played a decisive meditating in helping resolve the bloody 40 year old dispute between the Catholics and Muslims in Mindanao during January of last year. Chairman Man Hee Lee and his peace group invited each religious leader to a meeting and persuaded them to sign an document agreeing to the cessation of war and world peace.

Chairman Man Hee Lee and his companions accomplished their busy schedule in 4 nights and 5 days starting on the 22nd of May. During this time, they met with politicians, lawyers, soldiers and the leaders of the police in Manila, Maguindanao, Cagayan de Oro City and Dabao to encourage them to join the peace movement of the HWPL, the event celebrating the second anniversary of the Declaration of World Peace and the ceremony of the women's peace agreement.
Chairman Man Hee Lee appealed that the HWPL is trying to work towards the cessation of war and getting everyone to sign a declaration of world peace.
He added that everyone in our global family, regardless of class or importance, should work together towards achieving world peace with the peace messenger and to end all disputes between religions just like what was accomplished on the island of Mindanao, Philippines.

The head of IWPG and a supporter of the HWPL, Nam Hee Kim exhorted that we should have political, economic and religious leaders take the lead in the peace movement. In addition, she mentioned that she couldn't believe the success they have seen over the last two years in furthering the movement towards peace.
Chairman Man Hee Lee spoke to our descendants who will inherit the peace and cessation of war that will be accomplished through the efforts of the youth and HWPL.
He encouraged them to commemorate May 25th as a day of world peace and to send the message to youth all over the world.
Mr. Lee also spoke to the young people that they should remember this anniversary and to spread this event all over the world. We have to be messengers of peace together with a glorious light.

In the meantime, the mayor and members of the city council of the city of Alexandria, Virginia has acknowledged HWPL’s dedication in bringing people of different religions together for the establishment of peace and has recently proclaimed September 18th as the ‘World Alliance of Religions Day’ to commemorate the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit, an unprecedented international peace festival held by HWPL on September 18th in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
In addition to the accomplishments above, the National Assembly of Ecuador has recently conferred an award of national recognition to acknowledge and cooperate with the works of HWPL for the commemoration of May 25th.
In the preamble to the award, the government of Ecuador recognizes that HWPL has dedicated, since its foundation, the efforts and energy aimed at actively pursuing missions widely supported by many countries while solving current issues of the world for the purpose of restoring human dignity. While the government also recognizes the works of IWPG and IPYG, the award of national recognition highlighted hard work of Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL in spreading the global peace movement.
The National Assembly of Ecuador has expressed its sincere gratitude for Chairman Man Hee Lee’s spirit of volunteerism and his dedication toward preserving and fostering culture of peace.
