IPYG World Peace +Peace's Diary Peace Work

Since I was very interested in last week's peace event held in Seoul, I tried to find out about the organizer or sponsor. And here is what I found :

The official name of the peace event was "1st Anniversary of the Declaration of World Peace" and it was held by IPYG (International Peace Youth Group).

So, the begining was last year, "International Peace Youth Walk"  which took place in Seoul, on 25 May 2013. The result of this event was so positive, with over 27,000 people walking for peace and 13 press releases in 10 countries, that we, the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), did it again but the second time it was not only hosted in one city in Korea, but across the whole country. Around globe in 23 different nations, 38 different youth organizations also hosted and completed their own IPYG International Youth Peace Walk. We are calling for your support and participation as our partners in peace because together, we will bring peace to our planet.

IPYG (International Peace Youth Group)

What is IPYG?

IPYG (International Peace Youth Group) is a youth organization working for world peace and uniting all international youth.

How was started?

 It’s formed from some groups of youth coming together with same idea of peace. They thought people should be able to understand across cultures, languages, borders and nationalities. It began with one of Korea’s largest volunteer group called MIYC and many groups had joined and became IPYG as now.

Why does it want the youth to be united?  

The youth are so powerful and energetic so they can do anything when they gather and make decisions together. Let’s assume that they all refuse to fight against one another. What would happen? Unless they want war all together, the war will be end. That’s why this group believe young people are so important to finish war.

What does it do?

It has made a partnership more than 130 different groups from 80 countries around the world. And it has meetings sharing ideas, and it holds Peace Walk in many places here and there to show the world that we love peace and need no more war.

Now I understand why there were so many young people last week's peace event. And I was surprised that the organization was much bigger than I thought. I saw HOPE that this world be better in next generation with this kind of peace organization and young people.

♥ 지난 주, 올림픽 공원 평화의 문 앞에서 있었던 "평화에 관한 행사"가 궁금하여 자료를 더 찾아 보았다. IPYG라는 세계평화청년단체에서 주관한 것이며 작년 5월에 있었던 평화 걷기 대회 1주년을 기념하는 행사였다. 이제사..왜 그곳에 젊은 청년들이 그렇게 많았었던건지 이해가 갔다는^^ 

전쟁과 폭력 없는 세상, 세계 평화를 바라는 젊은이들이 함께하는 이 단체는 80개가 넘는 나라에서 130여개의 단체와 파트너쉽을 맺고 있다. 아직까지도 남북으로 갈라져 군복무제를 하고 있는 나라에서 이런 평화 단체가 생겼다는 것이 한편으로는 아이러니하지만, 한국에서 이러한 단체가 시작된 것이 자랑스럽고 하루 빨리 이 세상에 평화가 왔으면 좋겠다.

홈페이지에 가보니 단체 가입 방법과 기타 행사에 대한 자세한 내용이 있다. 우리 아이가 살아갈 다음 세상에는..지금보다 전쟁과 폭력이 덜하길...바라고 & 이런 단체의 활성화를 통해 희망적인 세상이 되었으면 한다.
