World Cup and Peace :)

2014 World Cup is TOMORROW!!!

Some might be excited to watch soccer games,
and some might not!





I, personally, have been looking forward this big world event
as peace lover.

Several news articles commonly say that soccer is helpful 
to world peace as follow :





Soccer is a bridge among cultures, religions, races, and nations as everybody set aside its work and tunes in World Cup on TV every 4 years.

Rules of soccer game also contributes to World Peace. All participants must follows principles and cooperate together. It is teamwork sport so respecting other is the basic rule.




Also, soccer is a sport which anyone can enjoy regardless of richness or race. Football has played an important role between nations. Christmas Day 1914 truce during World War I in Flanders, Belgium, when German and British troops put down their guns for a day to play football (England won). Famous Brazilian football star Pelé’s 1969 trip to Nigeria with his soccer club, Santos, caused a three-day cease-fire in the Biafran War, reports the “Play Soccer Make Peace!” project, initiated by the World Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (WANGO).





Football has become a vital instrument for hundreds of social development programs. FIFA and the World Cup Organizing Committee are using the World Cup 2014 to promote football as a means for social change. Thirty-two teams of boys and girls from grassroots organizations all over the planet will come to Rio de Janeiro during the last two weeks of the World Cup to celebrate their achievements and demonstrate the power of football for world peace in the 
Football for Hope Festival 2014. Additionally, FIFA will call attention to world social issues through their official environmental program, Football for the Planet, and their anti-discrimination initiative.

♥ 2014년 월드컵이 코앞이다. 

어떤이들은 월드컵을 손꼽아 기다려왔을 것이고

또 어떤이들은 관심이 없을수도 있을 것이다.

평화에 관심이 많은 사람으로서, 

그리고 아들을 둔 엄마로서^^;;

나는 월드컵에 관심이 많다.

축구는 인종, 부, 종교를 넘어 

전세계를 하나로 엮어주는 스포츠이고

세계대전 당시에도 축구로 전쟁을 멈출 수 있었을 정도로

사회적으로 매우 중요한 스포츠가 되어 왔다.

이번 2014년 브라질 월드컵에서는

월드컵을 '사회변화'라는 테마에 초점을 맞추어

전세계 소년 소녀들을 32개 팀으로 나누어 

월드컵이 환경과 인종 문제를 넘어설 수 있는 

역활을 할 수 있음을 보여주고자 준비했다.
